Workforce Development provides flexible, high-quality training programs to individuals, businesses, and organizations in the Baltimore area. We work closely with employers to develop training solutions that benefit both the business and employees.

 

Child Care

Child care related courses that meet the requirements for licensing or certification in this profession. Classes are conveniently scheduled online or during evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of working adults, and are all in accordance with the Maryland State Department of Education (Office of Child Care) credentialing standards. The courses listed below satisfy MSDE requirements: Child Development: Child Growth and Development (45 hours) Curriculum (select one): Infant/Toddler Teacher – Online Infant and Toddler Care (45 hours) Preschool Teacher- Online Preschool Curriculum and Activities (45 hours) School Age Teacher – Online School Age Child Care Curriculum (45 hours) Communication Skills: Communication Skills for Child Care Professionals (9 hours) Additional Courses: Including all Children and the ADA (3 Hours) Breastfeeding Support (3 hours) Please note this course is only a requirement if you have children 3 and under in your day care center. Childcare Directors MUST complete the additional Child Care Administration course to become licensed. Construction

Weatherization, in the broadest sense, is the practice of protecting a building – exterior and interior – from the elements. Energy efficiency is a fast-growing, international industry consisting of green technologies such as solar photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, and eco-building. The continuing education courses offered at Baltimore City Community College can help you enter or advance in careers in energy efficiency. Weatherization Installers and Technicians perform a variety of activities to weatherize homes and make them more energy efficient. In addition, workers may perform energy audits and advise clients on energy conservation measures. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the Weatherization industry is expected to grow by 13% from 2012-2022.

Cyber Security

Program Description: Cyber Security Academy provides students with superior non-credit cyber security training that prepares them for careers in cybersecurity through defined career and education pathways. The Academy achieves its goal by: Offering stackable certifications that will lead to employment, advanced education, and other training opportunities. Engaging business and industry in the development of curriculum that is aligned with current threats and adaptable to future cyber security concerns Providing students with cyber security training that fosters a challenging and welcoming environment for teaching and learning. Note: Some classes are grant-funded, so please call for eligibility. (Participants in grant-funded courses must be 18 years of age or older, have a High School Diploma or GED, pass a math and reading assessment, and present a clear background check/drug screen).
